Detail Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu

You will be picked up at the airport by one of the Real Travel staff and driven to your Kathmandu host family or a hotel. Here you will be welcomed into the family, be given your own room and be provided with all your meals while in Kathmandu. This will be your home during your orientation and volunteering in Nepal. With easy bus routes into town and the surrounding countryside, this quiet and safe suburb is the perfect base for your time in Nepal. Meals: Bed and Breakfast

Day 2 : Boudhanath and Pashupatinath Day Tour: Exploring Kathmandu's Spiritual Heart

The Boudhanath and Pashupatinath Day Tour is a journey into the spiritual heart of Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city. This cultural and religious adventure takes you to two of the most sacred and revered sites in Nepal, offering a profound and enriching experience.

We descend down along the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River. After checking in to the hotel, there will be a briefing on the activities we will be engaged in during our stay in Chitwan. We then walk on the banks of the Rapti River to enjoy the sunset in the sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan. In the evening, we enjoy dinner along with a brief cultural program showcasing the tribal dances unique to the Chitwan region of Nepal. Overnight stay in Chitwan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 4 : Full-Day Jungle Exploration

Morning: Rise early for a jungle safari on the back of an elephant. This unique experience allows you to quietly navigate through the jungle and increase your chances of spotting wildlife, including one-horned rhinoceros and various bird species.

Breakfast: Return to your lodge for a hearty breakfast.

Canoe Ride: Embark on a peaceful canoe ride along the Rapti River. Your guide will help you spot crocodiles and a wide variety of birdlife.

Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch at your jungle lodge.

Afternoon: Explore the jungle further with a jeep safari. This excursion offers a different perspective and may lead to sightings of different animals than the morning’s elephant safari.

Evening: Return to your lodge to freshen up and relax. Share your day’s experiences with fellow travelers over dinner.

Day 5 : Birdwatching and Cultural Insights

Morning: Wake up early for a birdwatching tour in the lush wetlands of Chitwan National Park. Nepal is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 500 species of birds. Your guide will help you identify and spot various feathered friends.

Breakfast: Return to your lodge for breakfast.

Village Walk: Take a guided walk to a nearby Tharu village. Learn about the traditional lifestyles, customs, and practices of the indigenous Tharu people.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch back at your lodge.

Elephant Bath: Participate in or observe the elephant bath. This is a unique opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures enjoying their daily ritual.

Day 6 : Departure from Chitwan

Morning: After breakfast, bid farewell to the jungle paradise of Chitwan. You can either return to Kathmandu by road or catch a flight from Bharatpur Airport.

Day 7 : Farewell friend and departure/Fly back home:

Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Real Travel representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
