The raw Renjo La pass is definitely our destination and Gokyo is the journey – this is one odyssey where we wouldn’t really know which one is the better…till we actually get there!! Everest – Gokyo Valley with Renjo-La Pass Trek is one of those extraordinary Everest trips available in Nepal; the wild gets going as we follow steep, rocky paths through a region of pristine lakes and glittering glaciers carved against a backdrop of towering, silver gray mountains. We experience sunny clear blue sky mornings that are as transparent as crystal, dense rhododendron forests and enchanting villages with toothless kids tucking your sleeves for a toffee. The Gokyo-Renjo trail is physically laid out amidst incredible high mountain vistas, where the route winds through Khumbu – Sherpa country. The trail to Gokyo is a gradual ascent up the valley passing through patches of birch and rhododendron forest where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen with a peep. Through small yak-grazing settlements, we reach the Gokyo lakes. The Gokyo Peak (5480m) ascent is the one of the highlights of this trail We stay here to relish the gasping scenery, including real close-up views of Everest (8,848m), Makalu (8,470m), Cho Oyu (8153m) and Lhotse (8511m), to name but a few. The Renjo Pass route is a less trodden path where the beauty is simply raw & unbelievable. At the pass, with a great view of the Gokyo lakes on one side, the Rermo Pokhari lakes on the other side and a majestic galaxy of snowy peaks in the background provide the kind of experiences that surpass all forms of the imagination.
GokyoValley with Renjo-La Pass trek is possible in both the spring & autumn but the autumn is more preferable because of the clear blue skies with eagle-eye views of the massive Himalayas spread all around…it makes you ecstatic; and anybody in good health/shape with a flair for adventure can do this trek. While taking this trek you come across some of the most beautiful snow clad peaks and sights for your camera…which begins to work on overdrive in this area.
