Today’s plan is to reach Manang. We’ll be taking the upper route via the remote villages of Ghyaru, Ngawal, and Mungji. Along this path, we’ll be treated to even more spectacular views of towering mountain peaks that will inspire us to keep moving forward for more breathtaking scenery. As we progress, we’ll notice a shift in the terrain and vegetation, with the trek becoming more rugged and dry, presenting a harsher environment. Today is designated as an acclimatization day to help your body adjust to higher altitudes for the upcoming trekking days. Since we’ll be hiking to higher elevations soon, it’s crucial to prepare your body accordingly. Today’s hike involves traversing a gently steep path. While it may not be overly physically demanding, the elevation gain and walking along a narrow trail through loose scree and potentially landslide-prone areas can be tiring. We’ll pass through mid-hills known for impressive rock formations and occasional landslides.
We’ll be spending the night at a guesthouse, and all meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
The initial ascent towards the Lake can be challenging, but our trail gradually meanders along the mountainside with a gentle incline until we reach the Lake. As we ascend, we pass through a serene grazing area where yaks and deer can be spotted. Tilicho Lake, a breathtaking body of water nestled at the base of the north face of Tilicho Peak, awaits us on the other side. The French expedition leader famously dubbed it ‘The Great Ice Lake.’ This lake holds sacred significance for Hindus and is mentioned in one of their holiest texts, The Ramayana. After enjoying some time by the Lake, we trek back to Tilicho Lake Base Camp.
